One part of this project includes upgrading IDOT’s antiquated auditorium into a modern-day conference center. GHR has been tasked with providing all required electrical infrastructure for the new AV systems; designing a flexible power system; developing an energy efficient and flexible lighting system to facilitate the space programming; re-designing the HVAC serving this space to eliminates noise and thermal comfort issues; and coming up with creative solutions to the current space’s plumbing issues. In addition, GHR is also designing a variable refrigerant flow heating and air conditioning system to replace the buildings defunct perimeter heating/cooling system. The lack of this existing system has caused the building’s VAV systems to work in overdrive and is causing premature failure of existing systems. Lastly, GHR is working with Baily Edward to upgrade the building’s 50 year old toilet facilities: this include all new fire alarm devices, lighting, plumbing to new plumbing fixtures and re-distribution of the existing ventilation and exhaust.
