Paris Cooperative High School

Paris, Illinois

The two school districts of Paris Unit School District No. 95 and Paris Community Unit School District 4 needed to replace their 100-year-old cooperative high school in Paris, Illinois, with a new high school that provides 21st Century Learning Environments. The 134,600 sq. ft. high school is designed for an initial enrollment of 600 with the ability to expand to 900 in the future.  The design features STEM Labs, extended learning areas for collaboration, a 500 seat performing arts center auditorium that will be shared with the community, a three-court gymnasium that includes a competition court with bleachers for over 2000 spectators, and modern on-campus dining and food service accommodations. The high school site design includes parking for 500 cars and new athletic field components including football stadium, practice field, track & field event components, baseball field, softball field, and tennis courts.  In addition to creating a 21st Century learning environments, both districts were committed to designing a building that is friendly to the environment. The new high school is designed to achieve LEED Silver certification by utilizing an energy efficient geothermal mechanical system, water efficient plumbing systems, recycled and regional building materials, construction waste management, and enhanced indoor environmental quality features.  GHR provided complete MEP-FP design services for this project in addition to construction administration.

 

Meridian High School Additions & Remodel

Macon, Illinois

 

In an effort to reduce Meridian School District’s current four campus district to a two campus district, the existing football and baseball venues were relocated, a multi-story high school addition was built to replace the existing high school, and the existing high school facility was fully renovated to house the middle school students.  Shared amenities for both middle and high school students were created in a transitional zone that houses food service, arts programs, career education, and athletics.  GHR provided complete MEP-FP design services and construction administration for this project.

 

Garden Hills Elementary School Additions

& Remodel

Champaign, Illinois

 

This phased $12,000,000 project involved construction of an addition to an existing school while classes were in session.  The addition was awarded LEED Silver.  It features all the things a K-12 District wants in a building.

-Geothermal heating and cooling

-Energy Recovery

-Demand controlled ventilation

-Architecturally-pleasing lighting schemes that comply with latest energy code.

 

 

 

Geneseo High School Remodel & Addition

Geneseo, Illinois

 

This refferendum funded project provides a state-of-the-art concert hall addition, a performing arts theater remodel, upgrades to the school's library (information commons area), adds updated art rooms, 3D creation spaces, and rennovated administration areas.  In addition, the school's football facilities will be completely fit up with new playing surface new lighting, and a new entry/concession stand/ticket booth.  GHR is providing complete MEP-FP design on this project.

 

Roanoke-Benson CUSD #60

Roanoke, Illinois

 

This new 27,000 sq. ft. addition connects the existing high school and elementary school while providing a secure main entry to the facility.  Direct access to shared spaces such as the gym, music room and kitchen for both the High School and the Sowers Elementary School students is now provided. A new centralized administration area provides controlled access of visitors to the site and a new centrally located library gives flexibility to the facility. In addition, this project includes modernized science labs and classrooms as well as a renovated wood shop and band room.  GHR provided complete MEP-FP design services and construction administration for this project.

 

Cunningham's Children's Home

Education and Recreation Center

Urbana, Illinois

 

The new Education and Recreation Center (ERC) is planned as part of the Phase II expansion of the Cunningham Children’s Home campus. The ERC facility will combine both the residential school program (Gerber School) and day school program (Circle Academy) in a single facility and will also include new dining and recreation facilities to support the entire campus. GHR provided the mechanical, electrical, plumbing and fire protection design components.

John's Hill 1.png

John's Hill Magnet School

Decatur, Illinois

 

The Johns Hill Magnet School project was a $30 million new building that would ensure student-focused learning environments and that would expand learning beyond traditional expectations to further engage students. The K8 school focused on arts integration and English-Language learning curricula. Johns Hill Magnet School featured a 750-seat auditorium, as well as a 672-seat gym. Students could enjoy an Art Alley, Learning Stair and STEAM Suite for grades 6-8.  GHR provided mechanical, electrical, plumbing and fire protection design services for this unique project.  Additionally, GHR provided energy-code required commissioning services.
