Mechanical and Electrical Engineering
As part of a series of remodelings and upgrades of the Mechanical
Engineering Lab, this project included renovating a large portion
of the existing building into experimental labs and graduate student
offices. It also included a major addition providing a new main
entrance and lobby, administrative offices and conference rooms,
computer and teaching labs, a formal seminar and presentation room,
and faculty offices.
Labs are provided with compressed air, hot and cold water, sanitary
drains, chilled water, exhaust, power, and telecommunications.
New and remodeled areas are provided with new heating, air conditiong,
and ventilation systems. The project also included a new chilled
water distribution system for the building with connection to the
campus' chilled water system.
New fire protection sprinklers are provided in the new and remodeled
areas, along with a new fire service and fire pump. A new domestic
water service is also provided.
New lighting, power, telecommunications, and fire alarm are provided
in the new and remodeled areas including dedicated power panels
in the labs and presentation quality lighting, lighting control,
sound, and telecommunications capabilities in the formal seminar
room.
The project also included installing new electrical substations
throughout the building eliminating five existing 5KV services
and integraing the power systems on one new 12KV service.
