This $17 million addition will provide the jail with
- Two new housing pods
- One with 49 beds and one with 29 beds
- Would include four negative pressure medical observation/separation cells
- Cells for the general male and female populations
- Sight and sound separation between males and females
- Accommodate the female population plus overflow of the male population

This $18 million project provides a complete renovation of a existing 5 story building. A complete overhaul of every system in the building. New HVAC, new lighting, new restrooms, and a completely sprinkled building will be ready for the Champaign Sheriff and staff.
